Oxide
A downloadable game
OXIDE is a block-fit puzzle with a corrosion problem. Drag pieces onto the 8×8 grid, clear full rows and columns, and score big for chaining clears together — standard stuff, until you notice the clock isn't on your side. Every placement ages every block still sitting on the board. Rust creeps up through five visible stages, and once it hits the threshold, that cell turns to slag: permanent, immovable, and poison to any row or column it touches. There's no undo. The board you're playing on is the board your hesitation built.
The pressure only escalates. As your score climbs, rust spreads faster and the slag threshold drops, forcing sharper decisions with less room for error. Chain consecutive clears for a growing score multiplier, but every beat you spend "just waiting for a better piece" is a beat your existing blocks spend corroding.
Three ways to play: Standard for the full rust curve as designed, Brittle for a harsher, faster-corroding challenge once you've proven yourself, and Foundry, which trades your clean-run bonus for a single emergency charge that clears every slag cell on the board — spend it wisely.
Daily Grid deals everyone the same seeded board and piece sequence once a day, so you're not just chasing your own best — you're chasing everyone else's.
No timers, no lives, no hint system. Just you, a shrinking board, and the slow, visible spread of rust.
